The Squid Game Of Fitness

I just started watching the squid game on Netflix… It’s wild and weird but once I got into it I couldn’t turn it off

I won’t ruin anything for you but the basis of the story (in the first episode) is that they convince 426 people who have huge amounts off debt to come and play a game

These people are desperate and will do anything to get back into the green again, some are criminals, some are family men and some are dodgy stock broker type guys…

In the game there is a promise of money so they go in with no idea what they are in for

The rest you will have to watch for yourself…

It reminded me of the fitness industry – except replace transforming the body from out of shape to weaponized instead of the debt

There are a lot of people who need guidance (including me – I have 3 coaches currently, a programming guy for my strength, a nutrition guy for my weight loss and my BJJ team of coaches)

We need coaches for different reasons such as

  1. Not knowing what to do to achieve our goal
  2. Needing the accountability from someone other than ourselves
  3. Having someone tell us what to do and how to do it means we can focus on what we are great at
  4. Learn from someone smarter than us so we can retain and pass on that knowledge
  5. Paying someone else puts ‘skin in the game’ meaning we are more likely to follow through with what we are chasing

The problem with the fitness industry is that most people genuinely don’t see the ‘Squid Game’ level scams that go on in the fitness world and they join the wrong place/coach/program or whatever just because they think they are all the same

They are not all the same

Every coach I know has a different take on training so I won’t go into that here or it will take hours

What I will say is this

To truly build your body into your Weapon that elevates every other area of your life you need to do 3 things…

Progress in your strength throughout your entire body with a wide range of movements

Improve your cardiovascular system with both high intensity efforts and low intensity efforts

Last but not least you need to eat right so you don’t carry excess weight that makes you feel low in confidence and sluggish throughout the day.

This isn’t easy

It will take more than an 8 week challenge or 3 weeks of hard training

It will be a long term progression and at times will feel slow, tedious and once the motivation has worn off you will need to drag your ass in

At Royale Fitness or within the Online programs I do with The Weaponized Man we offer hard work and long term progress

This isn’t for everyone (especially the person who wants to undo 13 years of over indulgence in 6 weeks without having to change anything they are currently doing wrong right now)

Here is my one ‘Squid Game Promise’ for you: If you commit to training with us at Royale 3-4x per week, walk and eat well on other days you will become a completely different person within 12 months

It’s not easy but it is worth it.
